What can I add make my tote bag to make it look more sophisticated/modern?

Only I don't have a zipper on my tote bag and the handles for the tote bags are tied into a knot to adjust the size.

I want my tote bag to look more sophisticated and modern, like maybe add buttons to adjust the size of the handles on tote bag. I already have a pocket inside by bag because I don't want a pocket on the outside.

So I really need ideas to make my bag good looking, fancy, and sophisticated.

I honestly like the simplicity of the bag and the color combination. It looks very modern to me and not tacky (especially if you start to add lots of embellishments...it would look like something you bought at a flea market). If you do want to add a something that will give a "wow factor", I would add a beaded zipper pull.

Use a strip of leather and add a beaded design like this:

Another suggestion: maybe add a wooden bracelet and place it at the end of one of the straps (see example of how Jimmy Choo did theirs: http://img252.imageshack.us/img252/4022/halleberryjimmychooyo3.png. You can use a wooden bracelet that looks something like this (it would go with the theme of the bag):
